A self-professed history buff, Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen was a natural fit for the period drama A Royal Affair. Tribute.ca sat down with the actor to find out more about how he bonded with his co-stars on set, plus what it’s like playing the title character of the upcoming television series Hannibal. He also reminisces about his Best Actor win at the Cannes Film Festival for his role in Thomas Vinterberg’s The Hunt—both The Hunt and A Royal Affair are featured in this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.

Danish director Nikolaj Arcel sat down to talk to Tribute.ca about A Royal Affair, his latest feature film starring Mads Mikkelsen. Arcel spoke at length about the thoroughly Danish story, discussing its infamy amongst the Danes, and how getting Mikkelsen attached—the biggest star in the country—made him a bit nervous. And as the screenwriter of the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo film, Arcel also comments on David Fincher's remake.
